Name of Book: This Charming Man
Author: Marian Keyes
Summary: From BN.com: The lives of four very different women have been shaped—and battered—by one charming man. . . .
Ireland's debonair politician Paddy de Courcy—the "John F. Kennedy Jr. of Dublin"—has captured tabloid headlines and the imagination of his country with his charm and charisma. But the crushed hearts he's left behind him reveal more about his character than his winning, vote-getting smile. Lola, Grace, Marnie, and Alicia have all suffered from his selfishness and cruelty. But with Paddy's political star ascending, the time is finally ripe for redemption . . . and perhaps a bit of revenge.
What I Liked: The author did a great job of connecting all of the different women. This book was very descriptive and kind of dark at times. It definitely wasn’t what I expected. I did find Lola’s story particularly entertaining.
What I Didn’t Like: There are inserts throughout the book that are confusing at first and it’s not until the end that you find out what these stories are.
Overall Thoughts: I enjoyed the book, but I’m not sure I will read it again. Marian Keyes is one of my favorite authors, but this book didn’t sit well with me.
Final Rating: Green Star
Recommended? Yes, but don’t expect a charming love story with a fairy tale twist. It’s nothing like that.
